Oh Baby

Good morning!!! I have seen lots of pictures of snowy England but over here where you expect lots of snow we have none! Was looking forward to a white Christmas and it was forecast right up until Wednesday then they weather guys changed their minds. We had lots of rain and wind yesterday so just waiting to see what today will bring!

Speaking of today - it's the mid challenge reminder for Scribble and Scrap Crafts. If you've done any crafting over the Christmas holiday then enter it in our challenge. You have until next weekend, the rules are simple and can be found here. As always it is anything goes which means any crafty project can be entered!

Here is my Design card for this week

This gorgeous little fellow is from the Hobby House It's a Boy Wee Toppers sheet Isn't he adorable! The card blank has been cut diagonally so the image, which has been matted onto a scalloped die cut, stands proud of it. I have used papers from Scribble and Scrap's digital design papers  matted onto some blue card.  I have also used a Lili of the Valley stamp from their babies Companions A5 collection and stamped this directly onto the backing paper. Some beige pearls in the corners and the wheels of the pram just complete the design.

Inside the card I stamped another Lili of the Valley sentiment stamp from their Quotables Celebrate set and used a bunting die from Joanna Sheen's Signature range which is just showing the curls on the ends when the card is closed.

Come and join us over at Scribble and Scrap - the prize you can win is a voucher to spend in the store and you also get a show case on the blog!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!  I hope that Santa has been kind to everyone this year! I certainly have been spoilt so must have been on his nice list!

I'm here to showcase my latest make with So Suzy's Stamps gorgeous stamps and to give you inspiration to join our challenge -  the rules are simple all you have to do is make a card with Stamps purchased from the So Suzy Stamps Store and add it to the link on the blog, you don't have to own a blog you can also enter using Facebook, Flickr or a splitcoaster stamper account. If you are still unsure just ask one us and we can help you enter!

This is my latest card, the photo isn't great as James was hanging over my shoulder waiting to steal this for his girlfriend! Young love!!!

I have used the Snowflake Kisses sentiment stamp with a pearl ink then stamped the Snowflake Trio Stamp randomly over the card with embossing ink. This was then sprinkled Wow embossing powder and heat embossed to set. I have then done the same with the Poinsettia Dangle Ornament in a different colored embossing powder. The darker colored snowflakes have been punched from purple card and glued in place. I have then matted the card onto the same purple card.
Although this was used for a Christmas card the stamps are also great for winter birthdays. I have also used the sentiment for thank you cards for my kids to send to friends and relatives in lieu of their gifts.

Before I go, did you know that So Suzy Stamps can be found on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.  Yes, you should join us there and find more inspirations and fun!!

Snowdaddy!

Good morning! It's the last week of school (and work for Kev) and I have so much to get done this week before the festivities start!

Today is the start of challenge 4 over at Get Creative Crafts which means it's purple team's turn to showcase their designs which includes me! The sponsor this time is Lemon Shortbread who has some gorgeous Digi-stamp designs over on her Etsy Store

Why not pop by the blog and join in, the theme this time is using blue, white or silver and you can make anything that fits within the theme. The rules are very simple see here for details

On to my card.

Meet Snowman and son. I have colored them both using my Spectrum Noir markers and as you can see I have added a hint of blue around each of them to highlight shadows. I have used a couple of papers from Crafter's Companion's Christmas in Mulberry Wood Cd which are blue and green. These and the image have been matted onto red card and I have used red and green bauble bells as a banner across the top. Finishing touches is a silver snowman charm who you can just see peaking from under the bow!

Norma J Burnell's Will-O and the Wisps

Good morning! Christmas came to town here this weekend, we have had a lighted parade lead by the fire services and ending with Santa and his Reindeer who is now residing in his Grotto in the local park. Also the local Rec Center held a Frozen party for the local kids. Mollie met Elsa and Anna, made a Reindeer for our tree and a crown - It's been a fun weekend!

Today is the mid way reminder for Scribble and Scrap's 33rd challenge so if you haven't entered why not pop across and join in now. The rules are simple and can be found here. As always it is Anything goes as long as it's hand made!

Here is my card for the reminder

The image is a gorgeous Sweet Pea stamp drawn by Norma J Burnell called Will-o and the Wisps. We love owls in our family and I can't resist anything that has them on so LOVE this image. I have colored her with My spectrum Noirs and decided to make her a bit brighter than the images are depicted normally. I have then chosen 2 of the designer papers from Scribble and Scraps Perfectly Purple digital papers. These have been matted onto Kraft card and mounted onto a Purple card blank. The gems and flowers are from my stash just to add finishing touches to the image.

The image and the papers can be found in the Scribble and Scrap online store but be quick as the papers will be retiring at the end of the year.

I will be entering this card into the following challenges:

Christmas Gifts

Good morning all - well the snow has all disappeared and no more is forecast before Christmas. Typical we move to a State that is almost always guaranteed to have a white Christmas and our first one here isn't!

I have been busy making gifts for Mollie's teachers and as I do art classes with her class mates a couple of days a week I have made a little something for each of them too!

First the Teacher's gifts, inspired by the lovely chocolate boxes I have seen on Facebook, I decided to have a go, not having the CD explaining the technique it was trial and error for measurements but finally got it right
The topper and papers are from Crafter's Companion's Christmas in Mulberry Wood CD. and I have matted them onto a aqua colored card. The red card was then die cut with a memory box die.
I added red snowflake ribbon to tie the box shut.

Inside I have again used the CD for the insert and added some Christmas choccie bars!

For the little ones in the class I have made Candy Cane Reindeers. We have been painting candy canes in class this week with red paint infused with peppermint extract so I'm sure they will be appreciated.

The candy Canes have been stuck together to form the antlers and I have used Core'dinations card embossed with a dotty embossing folder and sanded back. The Holly was cut using a Die'sire die and I used my cameo to cut the ears. a couple of wobbly eyes and red glitter nose give him his cute face.

Thank you from behind the mask

Good morning! Well it looks like the snow is on it's way out and it could be possible that the white Christmas we were looking forward to isn't going to happen!

I am here to share one of my makes For the So Suzy Design Team using the gorgeous venetian mask stamp, it has so much intricate detail making it look so elegant no matter how you use it.

I personally have used paint pens in gold and silver to color it giving it a regal look! I used a black card blank and matted papers from Scribble and Scrap Crafts along with some gold Mirror card onto this. I have then shaped the mask so it curves over the card. The sentiment is the Thank You stamp but I have stamped the words individually so they can be staggered on the card.

I love making clean and simple cards like this one and this is so easy to do with the So Suzy stamps as they speak for themselves.

Why not come over and join the challenge, the rules can be found here and are simple and you may win a gift certificate for $15 to shop with So Suzy.

before I go, did you know that So Suzy Stamps can be found on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.  Yes, you should join us there and find more inspirations and fun!!

Christmas is coming!

Good morning - Christmas will be on us before we know it and I'm beavering away in my craft room making Christmas cards and gifts.

Today is the start of challenge 33 over at Scribble and Scrap so come and share all your crafty makes with us!
There is also candy running on the Facebook page where you can win one of the gorgeous Sweet pea stamps that are available in the Scribble and Scrap store.

The challenge runs for 2 weeks and you can find the rules here they aren't very strict so anyone can join in whether you are a card maker or love to make some other gorgeous craft.

On to my make for the design team:

I have used one to the lovely Wee card toppers again. This one is taken from the Christmas Berry set which are adorable. I have die cut the image using a scalloped circle and then matted it onto red card. It doesn't show up too well but the snow and angel wings are glittered. I have then matted some of Scribble and Scraps digital designer papers from the Valentines range onto the same red card. The ribbon and gems are from my stash and I have die cut 2 poinsettia flowers from the red card using a memory box die and used the same paper for the stamens.

As usual from me it is a clean and simple card but as the images are so sweet I don't want to distract from them.

I will be entering this card into the following Challenges;

Thanks for stopping by. If you want to learn more about the gorgeous products available from Scribble and Scrap stop by the online store. I'm sure you'll find something you just can't resist!

Lili of the Valley Nativity

Good morning, well the snow has returned but it makes my Christmas lights look so pretty! I put one of our trees up yesterday and we are going to buy a real one at the weekend for the living room!

Today's post is of a set of cards I have made just for fun for a change. I bought these Lili of the Valley stamps last year but with the move never got round to coloring them. So I thought I would have some me time coloring them and then decided to make a box set with them.

They are so adorable and remind me so much of the nativity plays at my children's schools.

First we have the Nativity Angels

The one with the bunches on the left is so like Mollie was last year even down to the pink socks!!

I have colored them with my spectrum noirs pens and added glitter to the stars and the halos. The backing paper is from a set of 6x6 papers from Doodlebug Designs Inc. Frosty Friends. I have die cut it with a memory box die and matted it onto a lovely turquoise card. The sentiment was printed on my pc and is taken from a Christmas hymn again matted onto card.

Memories of James come to mind....
Colored with my Spectrum Noirs and again glittery stars are on the backdrop and halo.
The paper is from Crafter's Companion's Christmas with Barkley cd. I have cut the snowflake border out using a Cheery Lynn die and used the same green card to mat the paper and image. The sentiment again is taken from a well known Christmas hymn.

Next we have Angel Gabriel

How sweet are these 2! You will notice in all the images I have colored the socks in bright colors to make them even more child like
Colored again with Spectrum Noirs and glittered. The papers I have used are from Crafter's Companion Mulberry Wood Christmas cd, matted onto pink card and the same card has been used in the Memory box die cut. Again a Christmas hymn complements the image.

Next is the Main event - Mary and Joseph

Don't you just love that the bear is almost as big as Mary!

As with all the others I have colored with Spectrum Noirs and glittered them. The papers are again from Mulberry Wood, matted onto blue card which has also been used with the Memory Box die. Sentiment this time taken from the Christmas story.

Last of all as they had to come from afar is the 3 Wee Kings
I think they may be just a bit shy....

As with all the others the image is colored with Spectrum Noirs and glittered. I have used Lili of the Valley Krafty Christmas paper pad matted onto red card. Another Memory Box die provides the glittery stars and the sentiment is another hymn.

To finish the collection I made a box using my Ultimate Pro

I used my Cameo for the die cuts and the papers are from Lili of the Valley's Frosty Christmas paper pad. I have glittered the stars but they don't show too well.

I am entering these into the following challenges:
A Girl who Crafts - Christmas
Always Something Creative - #88 Christmas
Country View Challenges - Nostalgic Christmas
Connie can Crop - Christmas Carols
Natalie and Amy's Challenge - Cute and Cuddly Christmas

Well onto my first make for which I have used So Suzy Stamps Paris Collection:

I have made a shadow box out of blue card which has been stamped with the Paris post mark
I have then stamped a blue polkadot paper (from my stash) with the wine and glass, masked this off then stamped the café set over the top. The bottle, glass and table top were colored with my Spectrum Noirs and the chair backs and seats filled in the with same color ink used to stamp them. This was then glued onto the back of the box.
I have then stamped and cut out the awning and glued to the top of the shadow box along with the swirl sign in which I stamped Paris.
The Eiffel Tower was then stamped and fussy cut before being glued to the front of the box. I have added a stand to the back of the box so it will support the card.

The gorgeous backing papers are from the Lilibet 6x6 designer papers and Scribble and Scraps Digital Designer range. They are so fitting for this card. They have a delicate pattern on them which is just enough detail without taking from the topper. A few gems just add to the look. On to my design team card. I am still in love with the gorgeous Hobby House Wee Toppers.

This is from the Little friends set. Isn't she adorable! I have used Kraft card to mat one of the gorgeous papers from Scribble and Scraps Vintage digital collection. I have distressed the edges of this with a pair od scissors. I have then die cut a scalloped circle from the Kraft card to mount my topper on and added a Dove crafts Cream doily under this to add to the vintage style. The lace ribbon,  pearls and flowers are all from my stash - a bit more embellishment than I usually use but I felt these complimented the gorgeous topper.

So Challenge 2 starts today and Whoopsidaisy are sponsoring it this time.

This adorable little girl is taken from one of their digi pages. This is a pre-colored image but you can also get her to color yourself. I have used Lili of the Valley Bonnets and Bowties 8x8 papers matted onto blue and pink card and I've also die cut the pink card to add accents. A bit of polkadot ribbon adds a finishing touch to the top of the card. The sentiment says party time and was printed on my pc before die cut into a tag shape. I felt this was quite fitting given that she is holding bunting.

One Year Younger

Good afternoon. I've been beavering away in my craft room today making Christmas cards - it's getting nearer and nearer and the weather is certainly turning!

Todays post is not about Christmas though, I'll share them during December.
I was asked to make a card for a female poet and struggled a bit at first but then came up with a lovely image from Joanna Sheen's Patience Strong CD.

The card is very simple to highlight how delicate the verse and image are. I printed it out on super-smooth paper and matted it onto lilac card before mounting it on a A5 cream card blank. The ribbon is from my stash and was originally white but so it matched in with the theme I colored it with my Spectrum Noir pens, made a triple bow and glued it around the lower part of the lilac card. I left it at that so as not to distract from the image.

Thanks for stopping by

Anniversay card

Hi I've been missing in action for a couple of weeks - we've changed internet providers and it is just so slow at the moment it takes forever to do anything on here!

But I'm braving it and posting a sweet little card I made for my brother's anniversary. I can't take the credit for the idea I saw a similar card posted on Facebook and loved it.

The papers I have used are from The Scribble and Scrap Store. The lower one is from their own Damask (naturals) Designer Collection and has been embossed. Then the upper wall paper and trim on the towels is from Lilibet 6x6 Designer Papers. They have both been matted onto Core'dinations card. I have used a spellbinders die and pearlescent card for the picture frame and a stamp from my stash. The towel rail and towels are cut from the same pearlescent card and I have hand written the Mr and Mrs onto the towels and used brads to fix the rail to the card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

DT swap news!

Good morning everyone. Autumn has well and truly arrived here and I just love getting out walking Gizzie. The colors of the trees are gorgeous, we have a maple in the garden and it has changed to all shades of orange through to a deep red, when the sun shines through it to casts a gorgeous red glow into our kitchen.

Anyway on to my crafty news. After the sad news that Crafty Girls Challenge is closing at the end of October, Erin the blog owner contacted me and asked me if I would move to other challenge design teams she runs. I of course accepted and this is my first post for Crafting at the Weekend challenge. Which is an odd title for me as I don't craft at the weekend its family time!! The challenge starts the last Saturday of the month but being part of the mid month team I will be posting a reminder around the 15th of the month!

The challenge is always anything goes and has some fab sponsors each month so you can win adorable digis! The sponsors this month are Ditzie Crafts and Aurella but being late in joining I have chosen to go freestyle this time!

This is a card I have made as a commission for a tree botanist! I used a Sheena Douglas stamp and used distress markers to ink it up so I could have the 2 different colors. The Sentiment was typed on my pc and color changed to match the matting layer. It's one of my favourite styles of cards very clean and simple which sometimes are harder to plan and fussy cards!

Funky Angel

Good morning everyone! Fall is starting to make it's appearance here, the leaves are turning gorgeous shades of yellow, red and orange and the air has drooped cooler. I am hoping to head in to one of the forests in the next couple of weeks to take some pictures.

There's some sad news over at Crafty Girls, 30th October will be their last challenge. but all is not lost - you will see me pop up as a design team member at Crafting for the weekend challenge blog and Crafting from the heart Face book Erin has kindly asked me to relocate there!

But for now today is the start of a new challenge over at Crafty Girls. Once again they have 2 sponsors, Lacy Sunshine and QKR Stampede. The challenge as always is anything goes and you can find the rules and how to enter here.

I love the angels from QKR so chose to use the hug me angel. As she has a great pair of bovver boots on I decided to make her more colourful and funky than the celestial angels we are used to.

I have colored her with my Spectrum Noir pens in bright purples and blues to match the backing paper which I have matted onto purple mirror card. Her wings have been glittered with 2 shades of pink but it doesn't show too well on the photo. I have then used a memory box die to cut the gingerbread border and a tattered lace one for the sentiment. some small purple sticker dots finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by and now go enter our challenge!

CAS card

Good Morning all - I've got a busy week this week so have scheduled most of my blog posts - so if you are reading this it is hopefully Tuesday morning.

The new Facebook Challenge starts today over at Crafting from the heart. The sponsors this month are Delicious Doodles and Bugaboo Stamps. As always the theme is anything goes and the advantage is you don't need a blog you just post your creation to our Facebook page - the rules are in the pinned post at the top of the page.

On to my design team card

This is a gorgeous digi stamp from Delightful Doodles. The picture is a sketch of Eilean Donan Castle in Scotland - it was the location used for Highlander movie. I have coloured it with my Faber Castel Polychromo pencils and tried to capture the bracken and heather in the hills. As it is such a beautiful sketch I have kept the card clean and simple. I have just die cut a sentiment and matted the topper onto Black and Kraft card.

Thanks for stopping by and now go join the challenge!

Challenge 28 at Scribble and Scrap Crafts

Good morning everyone, I hope the weather is being kind to you all. We are having another mini summer at the moment but the lovely fall colors are starting to appear on the trees and the harvest festival celebrations are happening in our town.

As well as all that there is another challenge starting over at Scribble and Scraps crafts. The prize is a £10 voucher to spend in the store and as always the theme is anything goes. You can find the rules and how to enter here!
For my design team card this week I wanted to demonstrate that you don't need images on a card and can work with just a couple of papers and embellishments.

The gorgeous papers are in the Scribble and Scrap store and are from a range called Curiosity Corner. This collection also has matching blossoms (which I have used), Doilies, stamps and embellishments. I have used Core'dinations card to matt my paper onto then cut the red striped paper into strips, punched them and folder to make the rosette. The blooms are held together with a Hobby House pearl brad and glued in place. I have then matted the rosette onto one of the gorgeous cream doilies. So no image in sight but still a pretty card.

Tutorial for a fancy fold card

This is the first time I have written a tutorial. I can teach face to face with no problems but struggle to put what I mean into writing!

The card I am making today is one of my favourite styles. It is simple to make once you get the measurements right so here goes:

you need 3 pieces of card stock cut to the following sizes:

Layer 1 6x7 inch
Layer 2 6x6 inches
Front of card 7.5 x 3 and 15/16 of an inch

You will also need 4 different backing papers - I have used Scribble and Scrap's Fabulous florals 2 for my sample. and a topper for the front of the card I have used one of the images from vintage photo sheet 19 for mine.

Taking Layer 1 you need to score 1.5  inches in on either side of the 7 inch length
Layer 2 needs scoring at 1 inch on opposite sides.

You then need to punch along the edges like so:

You then add strips of backing paper to the punched edges - the width of these will be dependant on the punch you use. Mine are 1 inch and 1/2 inch

With the Front piece of card score this at 6 and 6 and 1 eighth and fold. Then add backing paper to the inside long part and double sided tape to the shorter end:

your pieces should then look like this:

Line the shorter edge of the front piece with the outer top edge of layer 2 this is then stuck to the back of layer 2

Turn the card over and the inner of your card should look like this:

As you can see I have added a sentiment!

Fold the front flap down over the top of layer 1

Then take Layer 1 and glue this to the inner layer of layer 2 with the decorated edges facing you. This will cover the flap of the card front making the back of your finished card look neater

All that is left to do then is decorate the front of the card with your choice of papers and topper.

By folding the  layer 1 punched sides out and layer 2 in the card will stand independently.

One of the items they well are the gorgeous Wee Toppers and my card today as been made with one of these:

This sweetie is from the Its a Girl set. I have matted her onto some pink card and used Scribble and Scraps designer papers from the Lacy Florals range, this is very delicate looking, ideal for a new baby card! The bunting is also from the store and I have added some pearls in the same color as well as color tinted some flowers and ribbon with spectrum noir pens to match. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley.
