A little help from a friend

Good evening (or morning if you are in Australia!) I can't believe how quickly this year is passing - March already and we are still under a few feet of snow!

Today is the start of Challenge five over at Lil Patch of Crafty friends. The challenge as always is anything goes and you can find the rules here. The main one to observe is you can only enter 10 challenges along with ours.

Once again we have some fab sponsors offering great prizes:

The Stamping Boutique Offering 2 images but can get 3 if you use a TSB image

Flat Friends Boutique Offering 3 images

Concetta Kilmer Offering 3 images

I have used an image from the Stamping Boutique for my design team make

This is Help from a friend I loved this image as soon as saw it, you can just imagine the poor fairy collapsed from exhaustion (Or she has been partying and had a little too much nectar to drink!!!)  and the loving butterfly picking her up and carrying her home. I have colored her and the background with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and although it doesn't show on the photo I have used clear Wink of Stella on her wings, parts of the butterfly wings and the sparkle effects in the background. I cut the image using a spellbinder die. I have then matted yellow card onto a white card blank and used some backing paper from Linda Ravenscroft's A touch of Magic cd. I have added some yellow ribbon and a die cut butterfly as embellishments.

Good morning from a very snowy Michigan!! As you can see in the following photo's the weather is being a bit mean to us at the moment. But we keep smiling, bundle up in warm clothes and just get on with it!

This is Chatter - a great vintage looking stamp which has been used in many ways over on the So Suzy Blog. I have chosen to showcase it in a CAS card as this gorgeous stamps doesn't need anything else! I have stamped it using a silver pigment ink and matted it onto silver card to make it pop! I have then embossed some of the black card with a heart embossing folder, matted this onto a white card blank and added white ribbon across the middle before adding my stamped topper. The silver hearts are hot fix gems from my stash.

Jeans and a Tee

I have a very good friend, Diane, who owns the Haveman's Hardware store  in Fremont which is also the local craft store - she recently started stocking Little Darling Stamps which I love and as I have a few of the ones she is stocking I offered to make her some samples for the store.

This is the first of them and is a Saturated Canary Stamp - Jeans and a Tee:

I have colored her using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and matted her onto lavender Core'dinations card. I have tried to use products that Diane sells in the store to help her promote them. The backing paper is from a Docrafts Papermania Capsule collection matted onto the same lavender card. and the die is one of the new memory box range - both of which she sells. I have stamped hello onto the inner part of the die cut and added some pearl hearts as accents.

Diane's Store is full of great stamps, papers, dies and much more and if she hasn't got what you need just ask and she will endeavor to get it for you!

I have entered this card into the following challenges
Sister Act Card Challenge - Anything goes
Crafts Galore Encore - Use a stamp or a digi
As you like it Challenge - CAS or fussy

Hoppy Valentines

Good Morning - I'm back with another Valentine's Day card. Here is the US kids celebrate Valentines with their school class. Mollie's fab teacher loves frogs - the whole classroom is decorated in the little green creatures so what better card to make than a frog one:

This dapper little man is a stamp from Personal Impressions. I have had him forever but this is the first time I have allowed him out of the packet!
I have colored him with Spectrum Noirs giving him a smart little red vest and bow tie so he is ready for Valentine's Day!
The backing papers are from Crafter's Companion's Beatrix Potter collection (which unfortunately has been retired now )from the Jeremy Fisher CD. I have matted them onto Green card.
I have inked the card around the image trying to get the effect of grass around him and die cut both him and some more of the green card with a X-cut die. A few Double-Click Skittles and a sentiment typed up on my pc add to the theme.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you had a 'Hoppy' Valentine's day too!

Valetines cards

Good morning from - wait for it yes you've guessed a snowy Michigan!!! We have had extremely cold weather over the last few days and it is set to stay for at least the next week. Snow flurries keep falling and it is way too cold to walk the poor puppies!

We had planned a gathering at our home for Valentine's Day - It was exactly a year since we bought the house and we thought what better way to celebrate than with people who have become good friends over the last 12 months! Well Mother Nature put paid to that! We had blizzards with snow blowing so hard visibility was down to zero! The only person brave enough to risk it was the food delivery guy which meant we had enough subs, pizza and salad to feed us for this coming week!

Anyway we made the best of it - I got some coloring done and we managed to reduce the amount of programs on the DVR! I can now share the card I made for Kev:

I used Crafter's Companion Centura pearl card for the base and face of this card. I die cut a heart shape from the top layer. Then used some red Core'dinations card and a memory box die for the insert. I stamped the sentiment using So Suzy's Happy Valentine's Day sentiment stamp and added 3 Double Click Skittles just to balance the design.

A very CAS card but that is my favorite kind to make!
I have entered this card into the following challenge

Kraftyhands - Hearts and Flowers

The Scribble and Scrap Store has some gorgeous Sweet Pea stamps in and I have used one of them for my Design Team card:

As the weather is so cold I'd thought I'd warm it up with fire fly. Isn't she gorgeous. These stamps are so hard to resist and I love coloring them. I have used Spectrum Noir Markers to color her. I have them matted a red card blank with some pale blue card, more red and them some brightly colored papers. The ribbon across the card is a die cut using a memory box die. I have matted the image using the same card and then used some sparkly gems and some double click skittles to finish off.

Love is in the air

Good morning from a freezing Michigan! The temperatures have remained well below freezing and are continuing to do so over the next few days - Thank goodness we haven't had any snow for the past few days but I'm sure that is likely to change.

As it's February love is all around. I have been busy making little gifts for Mollie's school friends as they are having a Valentine's party on Friday. I have also done a digital Scrapbook for James to give his girlfriend as a gift - lots of smoochy pictures of them both - aww teenage love is so sweet!

Over at So Suzy Stamps we are also celebrating love this month - The February theme for our challenge is just that - Love!

The challenge is easy to enter all you have to do is use one of their stamps and follow the theme -simple! You don't even need a blog you can enter from Facebook if you like!

So here's my Design team card to showcase a CAS way of using Suzy's Stamps:

I have used the Sassy Squiggle Heart and stamped it twice with red ink before cutting both images out. I have then notched a piece of white card at either side, wrapped some red bakers twine around it then using foam pads placed the hearts over this. I have then stamped The Happy Valentine's Day stamp in the bottom right corner using the same ink.
This has then been matted onto a red card blank and to finish I have used some red skittles as an accent.

A simple card that shows how easy So Suzy Stamps are to use and how simple it is to enter our challenge!

Before I go, did you know that So Suzy Stamps can be found on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. Yes, you should join us there and find more inspirations and fun!!!

A little Fairy Tangle

Good morning and welcome to my design team post for Challenge 37 over at Scribble and Scrap. As Always there is a fab prize to win and this challenge it is some fab flowers from the store!

The challenge as always is anything goes and the rules are simple you can find them here.

There are lots of fab stamps in the Scribble and Scrap store like the one I have used today:

This is a Sweet Pea stamp from Norma J Burnell and is called Cybele and Kaida I have colored her with my Spectrum Noir pens and matted her onto coordinating pink card.  The backing papers I have used were a freebie in a magazine some time ago again I have matted these onto the pink card. All the corners have been rounded with a punch to blend in with the scalloped card blank. Some pink pearls and a corner cut using a Cheery Lynn die have been place to finish off the card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you pop across and enter our challenge.
