Alien Love

Good afternoon, another beautiful day here in Michigan - The summer break is just flying by - hard to believe that tomorrow is the start of August.

Today's card is another from my personal collection. I made this one for James's girlfriend - she just loves Stitch the adorable alien.

This image is just one of the gorgeous line art from Jade Dragonne is just too cute It's called Stitch's best Friend. I colored the image with Copic markers then used my polychromo pencils to deepen the shading.
I used a Disney script font to type out the sentiment and printed it directly to the side of the image. I then die cut more hearts in decreasing sizes and adhered these above the one included with the image.
I matted a white card base with red and blue to coordinate with the coloring. The corners were rounded on my topper to make the red and blue layers more visible.

Farmer's Father's Day

Good afternoon, I have kind of stopped blogging my personal cards and ones I've made for commissions so thought I would catch up on a few over the next couple of weeks.

When I was little my dad was a farmer, I can remember him threatening to throw me in a pig pen with a huge sow I was terrified of that pig! He still talks about plowing fields with horses and again as kids we would go to shows watching heavy horses pulling farm equipment demonstrating how farming was done before all the high tech equipment.

So the stamps I have used on the Father's Day card I made him so perfect:

The tractor stamp is from Class Act which unfortunately has been discontinued The Plowman is an Art-Kure stamp and both go so well together.
I colored both with my polychromo pencils and die cut them using Gina Marie designs Frame Oval Stitched dies. I love the effect these dies give when my image has a background as when you cut with them they give you a frame of your image as you can see in the card. I use foam squares to lift the frame section and then adhere the rest of my image using flat glue.
I matted my card base with black card and masculine papers in a tan patterned and a dark red  both digital papers from Nitwit's paper collections. The word DAD was die cut from the same black card. A few coordinating enamel dots completed the design.

We now live in a farming community and often see the Amish using horses to plow and older farm equipment being used, my Dad would love the area.

Happy Birthday Mollie

Good afternoon, it's another gorgeous Michigan summer day here, I've just bathed the dogs much to their disgust and am now chilling with an ice cold glass of water so thought I do some catching up on my blog.

Sunday was Mollie's 8th birthday - she is growing up way too quickly! She started ballet classes last Fall and is loving them so I thought I'd make a her cute little ballerina card

Isn't she just the sweetest little stamp? She is called 'warming Up' and is from the girlie collection at Lili of The Valley They have a few little ballet dancers and they all look like our Miss Mollie.
I colored her with Copic Markers, making her outfit blue as that is the color Mollie wears. I then deepened the shading on the image with Spectrum Noir ColorBlend pencils that work really well over the top of alcohol markers.
I made a 6x6in card blank from centura pearl card matted with blue card. I used Crafter's Companion Floral Frenzy embossing folder on some pink card and wrapped this with wide crushed satin blue ribbon.
My image was die cut using Gina Marie Designs Stained Glass Oval Border dies and adhered to the card using foam tape. I then made a bow from the same ribbon and added this and a glitter gem to the side of the card. I didn't add a sentiment as I wrote a personal verse for inside of the card.

Mollie had a great birthday, instead of having a party she chose to have a spa day at my hair salon her and 2 of her closest friends had manicures and pedicures and were very spoiled by the lovely ladies at The Hair Station

Would I fit in the dryer?

Good afternoon, I'm back today with another cute card showcasing Riley and Company stamps.

Have you ever wished loosing weight could be as easy as it is to shrink clothes?
Well take a look at my card

I love the Dryer sentiment stamp I would love to be able to do exactly that - think I would have trouble fitting in the dryer to begin with!
I decided I was going to try and make a dryer so I started with a piece of white card. I die cut a silver circular frame using 2 of Riley and Company's nesting circle dies. I then added acetate to this and hey presto I have a dryer door. I colored up and die cut some of the clothes stamps from various Dress up collections. These were adhered to my card placing the door over the top of them using foam squares to give dimension. I then used the ball dies from the Sports Accessories Set to cut buttons and knobs from silver mirror card.
I stamped my sentiment on to white card and matted this with blue card. I made my card base from white card and matted with the same blue card. My dryer was added and my sentiment placed at an angle.

Find the Joy

Good afternoon boy is it hot here. We've had a busy weekend decorating bedrooms and moving furniture around which in this heat is not pleasurable. I still have tons of Mollie's stuff to sort but I'll get there eventually.

So today I am showcasing a simple Riley and Company card using just one of their stamps .
Find the Joy is a lovely saying that can be used for a just because card.

I used a word template to make a lined she of stamping cardstock and die cut a note paper page from this. The sentiment was stamped onto this in red ink. I then matted a grey base card with red card and die cut the words note 2 self from the same grey as used for my base. I used foam tape to adhere the note paper on my card and arranged the die cut words along the bottom.
A very clean and simple card that is easy to make.

Bicycle congratulations

Good afternoon from a hot and humid Michigan - we had storms last night and the humidity is so unbearable that its nice to stay inside. So riding my bike is out of the question today!

I'm posting a congratulations card today and this goes out to all the kids at Mollie's school who achieved perfect attendance this year - they were all presented with bicycles!

Prickley Pear Rubber stamps have the perfect stamps for this occasion and their bicycle stamp is almost identical to my bike so have colored it in the same colors:

I used alcohol markers to color the bike, adding silver gel pen to the chrome components.

I then used a fancy edge die to cut the bottom of the image and a pink card to go under this. I stamped the Congratulations stamp, again a Prickley Pear one, and matted this on pink card. I chose to use a ready made scalloped edged card base and matted this with the same pink card and some dotty coordinating paper. a few silver nail head gems just balanced the image.

Thank you for stopping by, you can find more inspiration from me and my teamies on the Prickley Pear blog and our Facebook page.
