Is that Spring I can See?

Good afternoon is that spring that's around the corner? We've woken to snow the last few days but it's not hung around thank goodness!

I started my card by printing off the image at a size to fit an A7 card base. She was colored with Copic Markers and trimmed to size.

I used some spring colored pattern paper to mat my card base and a sentiment stamp that seem to fit as she's not smiling!!

Her hair was amazing to color - Loys of ringlets - Wish my hair was more like this although not green lol.

Farmer's Father's Day

Good afternoon, I have kind of stopped blogging my personal cards and ones I've made for commissions so thought I would catch up on a few over the next couple of weeks.

When I was little my dad was a farmer, I can remember him threatening to throw me in a pig pen with a huge sow I was terrified of that pig! He still talks about plowing fields with horses and again as kids we would go to shows watching heavy horses pulling farm equipment demonstrating how farming was done before all the high tech equipment.

So the stamps I have used on the Father's Day card I made him so perfect:

The tractor stamp is from Class Act which unfortunately has been discontinued The Plowman is an Art-Kure stamp and both go so well together. 

I colored both with my polychromo pencils and die cut them using Gina Marie designs Frame Oval Stitched dies. I love the effect these dies give when my image has a background as when you cut with them they give you a frame of your image as you can see in the card. I use foam squares to lift the frame section and then adhere the rest of my image using flat glue.

I matted my card base with black card and masculine papers in a tan patterned and a dark red  both digital papers from Nitwit's paper collections. The word DAD was die cut from the same black card. A few coordinating enamel dots completed the design.

We now live in a farming community and often see the Amish using horses to plow and older farm equipment being used, my Dad would love the area.

Happy Forever Day

Yesterday was a special day for a little girl who is very close to our hearts. 

Let me tell you why.

I have a very close friend who lives 2 doors away from me and, if we could, I think our houses would be connected. We originally met through James's school, she was his science teacher. Then last year she told us that she would be moving into our neighborhood. Moving was a very fraught time for her and through this we became close and now are like sisters. 

Yesterday we celebrated one of the reason's she is so special it was her youngest daughter's forever day - the day she legally became Jane's adopted daughter. Both her girls are adopted but couldn't ask for a better mom.

To mark the occasion we went for dinner and Renee got to choose what we were eating. Mac and cheese with hot dogs was yummy!

Of course I couldn't let the occasion pass with out making her a card:

I chose Blue Star angel digital stamp from Karen Middleton, Using copic markers I colored her to look like Renee - after all she is an angel sent to shower love and happiness.

 I then matted the image onto pink card. I used Nit whit design papers along with the same pink card to mat and layer my card base. 

The flowers were diecut and I typed and printed the sentiment using my PC.

I added some bright pink pearls to the center of the flowers and in one corner just to balance the design.

I added a verse inside the card which reads:

Adoption is where

A child grows in

Her Mommy's heart 

instead of her tummy

Dinner was delicious and was finished off with some pink and purple princess cupcakes.

Smile you are on Camera

Good morning! The weather here is hot hot hot! which would be nice however the humidity is also very high so it's difficult to be outside for long   

Today I is my turn to showcase over at Scrap n' Dipity and I have a cute image for you today.

Meet Reid and Rose an adorable couple who are posing to have their photo taken

I have colored them with my alcohol markers and used the colors from their clothes for my card design.

I matted my card blank with purple card and some cute floral design paper. Using a coordinating paper I made 2 small mats and placed these in opposing angles.

I then matted my image with the same purple card and adhered this using foam tape for dimension.

The flowers are a tuck in die again cut from the same card along with the Smile sentiment.

A few pearls made from crystal drops just balance the design.
