Rainbows and Stars

Hello! Well after the snow of last week the temperatures have risen again and we have been back in 75F weather!

I'm back today with a card using Maker Forte supplies. In the main the Star Gazer White Rubber Stamp Set.

The design in this stamp is tiny but the fact it is rubber makes it is show perfectly.
My card begins by using the circle from the Spotlight Circle Stencil to mask off part of my cardstock.

The Stargazer background stamp is put in place over this also I am using my MISTI because I want to stamp the image a couple of times. This makes sure I get a solid color on my cardstock. Sugar Plum Ink covers all of the stamp and I used my Smoosher to make sure I got even pressure.

It doesn't matter that the ink hasn't stamped right up to the edge of the mask. It's just going to make my 'moon' look bigger. Being careful not to get ink onto the masked section, I lift the circle up and have a perfected clean circle area.
It's not going to stay that way for long though. Fossilized Amber and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Inks are blend across the circle to give me a yellow moon.

Trimming my design makes it ready for my card base.

The sentiment that come as part of the stamp set are perfect for using with the background stamp. Using black cardstock I prepped with an Anti-Static Pad. Applying Clear Embossing Glue Ink Pad to the wording helps white powder to stick to them, heating it gives crisp white sentiments.

I couldn't at this point decide which sentiment to use however once fussy cut the top one looks a little lost on my card but the rainbows and stars looked perfect.

Foam Squares adhere the sentiment in place to give some dimension to my card front.
I love using A2 Top Folding Card Bases and this design is no different. Gluing the design straight on the base without a mat (which would take away from the star pattern) finishes my card.

I decided moon looks a little bland so Shooting Star Crown Jewels in sets of 3 take the bareness away.

Thank you for taking time to read my post, I hope you love my design and it gives you inspiration.

Flying by....

Hello! Fall has finally arrived I just wish someone would tell the weather! We still have above normal temperatures

My card today is showcasing Stamper's Delights Chibi Agnes 3. Halloween is just around the corner and this image is great for your crafts.

Isn't she a cutie? I would love hair like this - maybe one day!
I colored her with my Copic markers adding some finalizer to give texture to her hair and broomstick.
Using a circle die I then cut my stamping card into a circle with a flat side.
My card base is an A2 size matted with black card and some digital spotty paper.
I inked the edge of Agnes's circle with distress ink and adhered in place lining up the flat edge with the edge of the design paper.
Boo! and a bat die cut just finished the design.

Off Duty Witch

Good afternoon. It's another hot day here but at least it's now cooling at night!

Halloween is here next month and of course the witching hour will be upon us! My card today is from a off duty witch, I don't know what this Stamper's Delight character has in mind but she's brewing up something instead of out flying her broomstick. Meet Anime Witch's Night Off:

Isn't the cat hanging on her hat the cutest? I arranged my scene with the clock and sentiment, printed and trimmed to size. She was then colored with Copic markers and the edges inked with distress ink.

I matted an A2 card base with purple card - coordinating with her outfit and added my image.

A simple card but the scene didn't need much to assenuate it.

Stamper's Delights have a great collection of images for your Halloween crafts in their store!

Mother's Day Blessings

Good morning! The weather is really messing with us here. Saturday it was 77F today it's been snowing and is forecast to drop into the 20s overnight! We are currently waiting for Sassy to have her pups, she's due any day now so we can't go anywhere even if the weather was better!

My post today is in celebration of all the Bonus mom's out there, I have one here who is always there for me to chat with! I have used Maker Forte products for this card starting with Motherhood Is A Blessing Stamp Set.

I started as always by collecting my supplies I used very little for this card. The gorgeous frame that is the main component of the stamp set doesn't need much more than a bit of color.

My design started by me stamping the frame on to some Bristol Vellum Card. This has a tooth to it which is needed with colored pencils. The ink color I chose for this was Memento London Fog because I didn't want black outlines on my flowers.for my sentiments.for my sentiments.
I stamped towards the bottom right of the card as I wanted plenty of white space on the card and room for my sentiments.

Once I had stamped the frame I used colored pencils in yellow and purple to color the flowers and of course green for the leaves. I decided to define the diamond of the frame with black fine liner. My thought was it would stand out from the flowers but I didn't want a thick line. This was where I made a mistake! I drew through the flower that goes over the frame. Luckily I was able to remove it with a sand eraser and I was able to disguise what was remaining with another layer of yellow pencil.

I used the Best Bonus Mom Ever sentiment on the card. I love this wording! This stamp is the only set I have seen with this wording. Being a Brit living in the US I have a bonus US mom for whom I am truly grateful.
This and the sentiment I placed in the frame were both stamped using Remarkable Eclipse Black Ink. I wanted them to stand out from the card and I think black ink does this. I did have to stamp a few times as the texture of the card left gaps - Hooray for my MISTI!

Once I had finished the stamping I started to build the card. Pulling the green color from the colored I chose a mat to coordinate. I used Welsh Dragon Solid Cardstock for my mat and an A2 Top Folding Card Base.

I cut my mat so it was 1/4in narrower than my base but the same length which left a slight white edge up both sides. Making sure this was central I used wet glue to fix it in place. My image was 1/4in narrower than my mat and I fixed this in place with foam tape. This gave dimension to my card.

Finally I added some bling with Lemon Crown Jewels. I adhered these in place with Makers Magic Crystal Clear glue. Have you seen the Makers Magic Rings? These little pink heart rings hold glue and you can dip the Micro Brush Applicators in to it getting just the right amount for sticking little gems down.

I hope this has given you some inspiration for your Mother's Day cards whether it's for your real mom or your bonus mom.

Oh and Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms and Mums!

Foiling With Die Cuts

Good morning! The weather here has been all over the place, snow, rain, freezing rain and winds - Oh well it's March in a couple of weeks!

I'm blogging today with a card made for Maker Forte design team, and I have a You Tube video explaining how I made the card!

Hope you enjoy it - please be kind as this is very new to me but I'm enjoying a new way to show my crafts!

The card is designed using a die cut to stencil through and then the image foiled - It's a magical process when you lift off the remaining foil and see the prettiness underneath:

I used Deco Foil Gel through the stencil, allowed this to dry then placed the foil over the top, ran it through a laminator and this was the result. I used the same die to make a frame for my foiled image and the same foil on my sentiment.

Like I said above if you want to see the process head over to my You Tube channel by following the link.

Products I used on this card include:

Thank you for stopping by - I would love your comments on the card as well as my video!

Altenew Educators Certification Program - Level 3- Quick and Simple Cards for Everyday Crafting

Good afternoon! I am excited to tell you that I passed my AECP level 2! I now have 5 more classes to do for level 3 then a workshop which I am so nervous about doing!

The first of these classes is Quick and Simple Cards for everyday Crafting by Laurie Willison. This involves using techniques that are quick to do but give a professional look to your card.

For my first card I followed Laurie's technique for stamping multiple sentiment strips at once

To make multiple sentiment strips like the ones I used on this card you use a MISTI stamping tool and the L ruler from the MISTI creative corners. by positioning this inside the MISTI bottom right corner you can line up one of the sentiment strip stamps every 1/2in the ruler makes sure they are straight and have the same distance between each on making it easy to cut into 1/4in strips. I made multiples of these, some on white cardstock and some on black embossed with weight embossing powder.

My card was made up by stamping the Coral Sunset stamp onto white card and fussy cutting it.
I matted an A2 card base with some patterned paper and added my image with foam squares.
My sentiments were laid across the image and adhered at the ends with foam tape so the laid flat across the flowers. Finally I added some clear enamel dots.

I always like to demonstrate that I have learned the techniques from the lessons in the class and although I only need to make one card I enjoy sharing more.

My next card was using a technique from lesson 6 - scoring the card to give detail.

I started with a piece of 4x5.25in white card. Using my score board I score a line down one side and 1/4in and again at 1/2in. I repeated this across the top of the piece of card stock. When turned over this gives an embossed detail to the card.
I then stamped my leaves on to this card and the flowers were stamped on a second piece of card and die cut so they could be added to the leaf detail. my sentiment was stamped in the same ink used for the darker section of my flowers. I cut a piece of white foam just smaller than the card with my image on used this to give dimension between my card and image piece. Finally I added a scatter of purple sequins.

My last card is from the masked and stamped 2 tone card lesson. I used orange and black for my 2 colors:

I placed 1in wide masking tape across my card then stamped multiples of the geometric flower giving my a circle but when I removed the tape I had a blank strip to stamp my sentiment in.
I used the top part of the flower stamp in each corner to help draw the eye into the center of the card.
I matted an A2 card base with coordinating orange cardstock and added my stamped piece using white foam for dimension. A few orange sequins were added to give more detail.

Thank you for stopping by. If you have been inspired by my cards please tag me on Instagram as I would love to see your creations

Come and Hop along with Crescent Creations.

Good afternoon! It's hump day already, where is the time going?

My post today is inspiration and a link for a blog hop for a company new to me. Crescent Creations is an online craft store that sells lots of crafting goodies including their own digital stamp collections. It's a new release day today and we are having a blog hop to celebrate.

If you comment on each stop and we would love you to subscribe to our platforms you are in with a chance of winning a $25 gift certificate to spend in the store.

The digital images are PNG files, but are white on the inside so you can layer them up. I have chosen to use their brand new Happy Diwali set. This comes with 2 mandalas a candle and 5 sentiments in different fonts.

I have made 2 cards to showcase both the mandalas which are stunning colored in bright colors.

The first mandala reminded my so much of a marigold flower which is synonymous with Diwali -used for garlands and offerings to the Hindu gods.
I printed it onto stamping cardstock and colored it with shades of orange marker.

The second is stunning, I used markers to color the mandala I also added silver paint pen for extra shine.
For both cards I used a paisley digital design paper on which I printed my sentiment.

I matted an A2 black card base with orange and black cardstock to make the colors pop even more. My design paper was added and the mandala was adhered with foam squares for dimension. Finally I added some iridescent bubbles which pick up the colors of the mandalas.

The winner of the hop will be announced on 23rd September on Crescent Creations social media. You should have hopped here from Tammi and you are heading to our next design team member Theary. If you have somehow gotten lost you can head back to Crescent Creations to find your way! You should have commented on all of the design team's inspiration posts or videos.

I will be back later in the month with more inspiration for the new release.

Thank you for stopping by.

Altenew Educators Certification Program - Masking Unleashed

Good afternoon! boy is it hot and humid here! We are melting and there is no let up in the forecast!

I'm here today with my submissions for my final ACEP level 2 class I am so excited that this level is finished! The class today is Masking Unleashed taught by Svitlana Shayevich. I do use masking often to arrange the scenes on my cards but I have never thought of masking negatively which is what I did with this card:

I cut a piece of Neenah Solar white 5.5in x 4in and a piece of freezer paper the same size
I die cut a circle from the freezer paper and laid it over the card. Using my baby easy press I ironed these together. The freezer paper has a plastic side which melts when heated. This seals it onto the cardstock so it doesn't move and it makes a waterproof seal.
Next I stamped flowers from Crown Bloom and Tree Peony in waterproof ink, the crown bloom flower was masked so I could add the others. I watercolored these, making sure to paint the whole circle, and left it to dry.
While they were drying I matted an A2 card base with fuchsia card and cut 'wonderful' from the same card.
Once dry I used my heat tool to reheat and gently remove the freezer paper. This left me with my painted image in a perfect circle.
I trimmed this down to 4x5.5in and added it to my card with foam tape. I positioned my die cut sentiment so I could add my stamped words around it. These were stamped in black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear powder.
Finally a few clear drops finished my design.

My second card uses masks to arrange flowers, or any image, with depth and on top of each other.

To make an arrangement for flowers for your cards there is a couple of ways to achieve it. You could stamp and die cut the flowers but this would give some dimension. If you want your images flat you have to mask the flowers off.
Had I just stamped these flowers without masking this is what it would look like:

All the parts of the flowers in the back overlay the front ones, so the stems of the buds are on the petals of the peonies and the leaves just look a mess!
So I stamped the images on masking paper and fussy cut these first. when making masks it's important to but inside the stamped lines or you can be left with white spaces around your flowers.
Once I had my masks I started stamping the outline images of my flowers on Neenah solar white card stock.
I started with the top peony - I wanted this in the foreground. I placed a mask over this and stamped the second peony and masked this off. Next the buds and 2 leaves (one at either side of the main flowers) were stamped and then masked. Finally I stamped the last 2 leaves. I then reversed my stamping with the colored layers, so I started with the last 2 leaves once these were done I unmasked the 2nd set of leaves and the flower buds. In reality I didn't need to mask the buds but I did. Once the leaves and buds were colored with the layered images I unmasked the bottom peony, stamped this and repeated with the top peony.
To make up my card I matted an A2 card base with purple cardstock added my image and stamped Thank you in bottom corner. A few clear drops just balanced the design.

Thanks for stopping by. My next step is to complete my level 2 challenge - I'm excited to see what this will be!
