A little bag of Snark

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day!!

Today I am being featured on the Riley and Company Blog for their designer highlights post

I love this company Little Riley the moose is adorable and the Funny Bones Stamps are just so amusing.
I love snark and a lot of the stamps are just that - made to make you have a little snicker when you see them.
My project for today's post is also one of my favorite things to make, my little collection of notelets in a purse.

They are so easy to make. First you start with the following pieces of cards:

The patterned card is best double sided to that the inside of your purse looks cute too.
I always start with the base

Score it all the way around at 1/2 inch. Then cut the side tabs and add strong double sided tape. You then fold up the edges to make a shallow box

There are 3 of the trim, add the strong tape to all 3.
The first of these goes along the top edge of the patterned card

Then turn this over and add tape to the bottom edge, This is then adhered to the base. Be careful not to fold the card as you take it around the base as you will loose the purse look - it will look more like a box.
Once wrapped around the box, tape up the back seam. Then add another of the taped trim around the base of the bag to cover the lower edge.

Next comes the handles

You need to pierce the ends of the short strips of card and the bag as above. I then found some cute silver button brads and fixed the handles in place with these - you can see these in the finished purse. You can just glue the handles in place and add pearls or gems to the purse if you don't have brads.

The third trim strip goes in the inside to cover the edges of the handles and the backs of the brads

I then decorated the bag with the Bags and Shoes Funny Bones sentiment and a shoe die cut

Using the same card, patterned card and Riley and company Funny Bones stamps I made 4 cards to place inside the bag:

I used 8 Glasses of Water and  Walmart stamps on 2 of them along with the wine glass and beer mug dies.

And the 2nd two have Not Grey Hairs and WTF Lines along with some nice glittering hair and some very WTF die cut DEEP wrinkles

Thank you for stopping by and helping me share my project today. If you love what you see I would appreciate you letting me know in the comments below

Love birds

Good afternoon, I'm just back in from walking my fur babies, they are all flopped out in the sunshine. I have the doors open listening to the birds singing it's bliss

My post this afternoon is showcasing more of the gorgeous Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps new release

I've used A Mother's Love stamp but for an Anniversary card just to show that these stamps are versatile:

I stamped and colored the image using alcohol markers. Added the Happy Anniversary sentiment which is also part of the new release. I then die cut some hearts in various sizes and made up some pink and white blossoms to go on the branch. The image was then matted onto pink card.
I used a pre- printed card base and added pink ribbon before arranging my topper. I then made a ribbon bow and embellished this with a pearl.

Don't forget if you order this week use the coupon FREESHIP and any orders over $15 will ship free!!!

Pop on over to the New Release section of the Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps website where you can see all the stamps being released this week.

Mushroom Lane is expanding!!

Good evening! There has been some building working going on down Mushroom Lane

There are some new houses and even a store there now - the village is growing well.
I'm going to show you a couple of the new houses - I love the first one:

Welcome to Tree Stump House I have colored the image with alcohol markers and inked the background stenciling clouds to make a scene. I then matted some ditsy floral paper and my image with red card drawing out the color of the door and windows - oh and the little ladybugs that are crawling around if you look closely.
I thought the Me or The House funny bones sentiment was fitting and I added the little die-cut squirrels as embellishments as I thought they worked great with this house.

The second house is The Butterfly House

Again colored with alcohol markers and matted on red card. I used a Kraft colored paper with tiny flowers on it on my card base.
A computer generated new home sentiment was added along with some rik-rak ribbon and pink enamel dots

Lunchables for mom's

Good afternoon - It's a gorgeous day here but so windy! It's my son's senior prom tonight I can't believe that he leaves school this week - where does the time go!!

So to reduce my stress levels I need the following Lunchables for Moms:

This is another new release from the Riley and Company Funny Bones collection. I generated some chocolate paper and matted my card with this. I then stamped the sentiment and the wine glass, cutting the bowl of the glass away then adding acetate over the hole. I inked the card then used foam tape on the back of the topper to make a shaker card using wine colored microbeads for the wine.
This was matted onto another piece of white card and added to the center of my chocolate bar.
A simple and easy card to make!

Don't forget there are deals continuing until midnight tomorrow for the new release from Riley and Company:

Sports day

Good afternoon the sun is shining and my doors are open! Thank goodness we have a break in the rain.

It's hump day and we are half way through the new release at Riley and Company. Today It's sports day, remember the adorable dress up Riley's from the last new release - well we have some great summer outfits and activities stamps including sports. So I have dressed our little buddy up for sports day.

First activity is soccer or as we Brits call it football:

I colored Riley and his shorts using alcohol markers - adding a stripe to his shorts so he's in my hubby's favorite team colors. I then printed out some soccer related design paper and cut it into a bookmark - I matted it onto red card to give it more stability Riley was glued in place and I stamped 3 soccer balls which I have placed to make it look as if he is heading them. I punched a hole in the top of the bookmark and made a tassel from baker's twine.

Next we'll have a nice game of golf and meet up at the 19th hole for a little apres drink

Again colored with Alcohol makers, I added a cap so he can see his ball without the sun getting in his eyes. I colored the ball and club - these accessories all have matching dies which makes it so much better than having to fussy cut such tiny items! I printed a design paper and typed out my sentiment and printed it onto the paper. Matting this with a golf ball paper I added the club and ball.

Onto my 3rd sports related card - fishing!

Riley looks fab in his "Gone Fishing" tee which along with his hat, rod and fish were colored with my markers. I then matted my grey card base with some camo design paper and green card. I typed out some of the lyrics from one of my favorite country singers and matted this with the grey card. Riley was dressed and added to the card along with his rod and trout!

The deals are still going on at Riley and Company:

No one is you....

Good afternoon - how is your day going? if things are getting you down this next new release from Riley and Company is just for you

I Love the many sentiments that Riley and Company have in their funny bone range some you can use to make snarky cards but then you can use the same stamp for a serious card as I have done in my 2nd post of the day:

"No one is you. And that is your power"- is a great sentiment for a pick me up card but can also be used to to make fun in a friendly way at someone.

I used 3 shades of distress ink blended in to each other on to white card. I then used the new Nesting Circle Dies to die-cut my sky patterned design paper.
I matted my base card with blue card, added the inked card. I adhered the patterned paper over this.
I stamped the lighthouse house from the Mushroom Lane range and colored it with alcohol markers before fussy cutting it out.
This was placed to the right of the circle and I then stamped my sentiment within the circle.
I added a few enamel dots to balance the design.

Don't forget to check out the Riley website and the great deals they have running this week only:

Today's make is from the first bundle along with a little dressed up Riley (yes you can get his outfit too with dies to make them easy to cut out and fit to him!)

Yes 60% water is a great new snarky stamp that fits perfectly with the snorkeling Riley outfit.

I colored Riley with my alcohol markers and dressed him using the snorkel and rubber ring. I then butchered him - yes I chopped his legs off 😲

I matted my card base with blue card and some water effect design paper. I then adhered Riley to the card along with some bubbles. I stamped the sentiment in black, matted this with blue card and glued in place adding bubbles to the top.
I then used glossy accents on both the bubbles and Riley's snorkel mask to add some dimension to my finished card.

So onto my first of many makes this week:

This Funny Bones stamp speaks volumes to me, we emigrated to the USA 3 years ago and boy was the thought of living in a whole new country scary and yes times I thought what are we doing but as the Regret Sentiment says 'regret is even scarier" and I know now that I would have regretted it for the rest of my life had I not made the change

I stamped the sentiment in a purple ink and the used the new Riley and Co. Oval pierced nesting dies to diecut the wording and a mat for it.
I matted my white card base with purple card and floral design paper. I then used the smallest oval die to cut petals and leaves and the smallest die from the pierced nesting circle dies which I made the flowers with. I added some crystal gems just to balance the design
