CAS card

Good Morning all - I've got a busy week this week so have scheduled most of my blog posts - so if you are reading this it is hopefully Tuesday morning.

The new Facebook Challenge starts today over at Crafting from the heart. The sponsors this month are Delicious Doodles and Bugaboo Stamps. As always the theme is anything goes and the advantage is you don't need a blog you just post your creation to our Facebook page - the rules are in the pinned post at the top of the page.

On to my design team card

This is a gorgeous digi stamp from Delightful Doodles. The picture is a sketch of Eilean Donan Castle in Scotland - it was the location used for Highlander movie. I have coloured it with my Faber Castel Polychromo pencils and tried to capture the bracken and heather in the hills. As it is such a beautiful sketch I have kept the card clean and simple. I have just die cut a sentiment and matted the topper onto Black and Kraft card.

Thanks for stopping by and now go join the challenge!

Challenge 28 at Scribble and Scrap Crafts

Good morning everyone, I hope the weather is being kind to you all. We are having another mini summer at the moment but the lovely fall colors are starting to appear on the trees and the harvest festival celebrations are happening in our town.

As well as all that there is another challenge starting over at Scribble and Scraps crafts. The prize is a £10 voucher to spend in the store and as always the theme is anything goes. You can find the rules and how to enter here!
For my design team card this week I wanted to demonstrate that you don't need images on a card and can work with just a couple of papers and embellishments.

The gorgeous papers are in the Scribble and Scrap store and are from a range called Curiosity Corner. This collection also has matching blossoms (which I have used), Doilies, stamps and embellishments. I have used Core'dinations card to matt my paper onto then cut the red striped paper into strips, punched them and folder to make the rosette. The blooms are held together with a Hobby House pearl brad and glued in place. I have then matted the rosette onto one of the gorgeous cream doilies. So no image in sight but still a pretty card.

Tutorial for a fancy fold card

This is the first time I have written a tutorial. I can teach face to face with no problems but struggle to put what I mean into writing!

The card I am making today is one of my favourite styles. It is simple to make once you get the measurements right so here goes:

you need 3 pieces of card stock cut to the following sizes:

Layer 1 6x7 inch
Layer 2 6x6 inches
Front of card 7.5 x 3 and 15/16 of an inch

You will also need 4 different backing papers - I have used Scribble and Scrap's Fabulous florals 2 for my sample. and a topper for the front of the card I have used one of the images from vintage photo sheet 19 for mine.

Taking Layer 1 you need to score 1.5  inches in on either side of the 7 inch length
Layer 2 needs scoring at 1 inch on opposite sides.

You then need to punch along the edges like so:

You then add strips of backing paper to the punched edges - the width of these will be dependant on the punch you use. Mine are 1 inch and 1/2 inch

With the Front piece of card score this at 6 and 6 and 1 eighth and fold. Then add backing paper to the inside long part and double sided tape to the shorter end:

your pieces should then look like this:

Line the shorter edge of the front piece with the outer top edge of layer 2 this is then stuck to the back of layer 2

Turn the card over and the inner of your card should look like this:

As you can see I have added a sentiment!

Fold the front flap down over the top of layer 1

Then take Layer 1 and glue this to the inner layer of layer 2 with the decorated edges facing you. This will cover the flap of the card front making the back of your finished card look neater

All that is left to do then is decorate the front of the card with your choice of papers and topper.

By folding the  layer 1 punched sides out and layer 2 in the card will stand independently.

The bunting is also from the store and I have added some pearls in the same color as well as color tinted some flowers and ribbon with spectrum noir pens to match. Bird House

It's Tuesday morning so that means it's time for a new challenge over at Digi Choosday!

To enter the challenge you can make anything you like, from a card to a home décor item and anything in between all you need to do is follow the weekly theme which this week is
Monochromatic
You have until the 23rd September to enter the challenge and the winner will be announced on the 30th!

So here's my make for the challenge. I chose not to make a card but to show what else you can find on the fab Polkadoodles CDs

On the Candy Doodles Collectors edition there is a fab template for a sweet little bird house so I printed this out onto card I chose some of the gorgeous papers from the cd which come in an array of colours (as this is a monochromatic I decided to stick with black and white) and printed these onto back of the templates. One of the papers was recolored with a graphics program but there are some lovely black and white ones on the cd. I followed the easy instructions and made up the bird house, I have left one side if the roof open as I have stuffed it with candy! A few black and white flowers from my stash and hearts cut from black card just finished it off.

Teddy bear's fun!

Hello on this gorgeous Sunday morning! The boys are out digging a hole for to make a firepit so we can sit around and make S'mores, Doughboys and Tonka pies! So I thought I'd blog my latest make.

Have you seen the fab new shop over at Scribble and Scrap Crafts. There are some scrummy stamps, paper and embellies as well as their own divine papers and toppers!

My make today is using some of the delicious goodies

The topper is from the lovely Janet Kruskamp card making pad It does come with matching tags, sentiments and labels. I have backed this onto gorgeous paper from the Dovecraft Curiosity pad and a cream doily. The  blossoms from the same collection as the papers. I have finished off with a ribbon and a pink pearl from my stash but there are some gorgeous gems just arrived in the store too.

And relax!!!

Good morning everyone, well the kids are now in school and the days are mine to own but I've been soo busy that time is passing me by.

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Crafty Girls you can win a host of digital goodies and as always the theme is anything goes. Their sponsors this week are Eureka Stamps and as I need to relax I have chosen a gorgeous stamp called Snoozing kitty.

I have colored him with my spectrum noir pens and attempted to give him a tabby coat. I have then used a Marianne die for the bench and laid him so he can enjoy his snooze. The backing paper is from Crafter's Companion Angelica and friends collection and has been matted onto Core'dinations card as has the sentiment which I typed on my computer and colored with a green spectrum noir pen so it blends with the color scheme. I have the used a small piece of Dove Craft's Curiosity Corner paper to make a newspaper. A few green pearls from my stash just finish it off.

I'm off now to take my own advice and relax!
Thanks for stopping by xx

Holidays

Today is a bit special as it's my little girl's first day at big school! Gosh how time flies! She will be getting on the school bus with her brother and I'm sure there will be lots of excitement from her and moans from him!

As it's Tuesday that also means it's Digi Choosday!!! Yes the start of a new challenge. This week the theme is Travel/Holidays and considering we have just returned from Mexico it's an apt topic for me.

To enter the challenge you can make anything you like providing you stay within the theme. You have until the 16th September to enter and the winner will be announced on the 23rd.

On to my card

I have just returned from my vacation so this weeks theme travel/holidays seems so fitting. I have used the caravan section from Work and Play 3. I printed out the matching cloud paper and matted it onto some blue card. I then used a strip of the road paper and die cut some grass to finish my background. The caravan was the printed 4 times and I have cut various sections of it to decoupage it. The little character with his knotted hankie sits neatly at the front whilst I have printed one of the sentiments onto yellow card as the sunshine!

I am entering this card into the following Challenges

The Crafty Bloggers Network - Anything goes
The Paper Makeup Stamps Blog - Anything goes
Through the Purple Haze - Anything goes

Thank you for stopping by and please say hi with a comment xx
