Just a hug

Good morning all the weather continue to be sunny and hot and it's been a busy week but I'm pausing to blog my latest card. So Suzy Stamps is holding a retreat this week - I so wish I could have joined them but it was not to be. Whilst this is taking place website is closed for the retreat but will be up and running as normal from 31st July.

During a snark fest competition on the So Suzy Facebook group one of my quotes won the honor of being made into a stamp so I thought I would give it some use:

Ok you are really safe hugging me I wouldn't really measure you up however some days there are people around me that I would really like to!

I have teamed this stamp along with the dirt mound that Suzy also has on her website. This has been colored with Spectrum Noir markers. I have used a 5x7 inch card blank and matted 2 shades of brown card onto this before placing my design. Just to add a bit of comedy to the card I have added some itty Biddy laughing faces randomly around the design.

Thanks for stopping by and before you leave hit the July tab on the top right column of the So Suzy Stamps blog and enter our challenge. If you don't have a blog - don't worry you can enter over at our Facebook group

Gnome Place Like Home

Good afternoon, well it's been a busy week for me but I'm here with a post of a gorgeous little chappy in his garden. My Whimsical Little World has some adorable gnome digi stamps and this little one comes with his own garden:

Meet Gnome Place Like Home - is he just loveable!!! I have colored him with my Spectrum Noir Markers and printed a sentiment to go with him. I have then matted the image onto brown and green card from my stash before adding to a white card blank.
I haven't used any embellishments - wanting to keep it a CAS card.

Thanks for stopping by and before you leave My Whimsical Little World now has a challenge blog why not pop over and enter you can find the blog and challenge details here. If you need inspiration then the Facebook group is an amazing place for this

Birds and blooms in colored pencil

Good morning - we have heavy storms planned for today so getting my blogging done now so I can switch off the pc!

Today is the birthday of a good friend of ours - this person checked I was ok the first time Kev went away on business after we had moved and has become a good friend to both of us since. So happy birthday Cindee!!

I wanted to make a special card for her and my new stamps have arrived just in time! These images are from a set by Sheena Douglass's A Little bit Sketchy range called Tropical Nectar

I used my Polycromo pencils to color the images laying plenty of color down so I could get a good blend with bright colors. I don't use my pencils as often as I should do and am so pleased with how this turned out.
The sentiment is from a Stampin Up set called One in a Million which I think has retired now. I matted the image onto green and yellow card and then onto a white card blank. I have not used any embellishments on this card as I didn't want to distract from the images.

Snowflakes

Good morning, we are having some great weather here in Michigan, not too hot just right for getting out and about and enjoying the season!

Are you loving the challenge theme over at So Suzy Stamps this month - Christmas by the sea!

I hope you are all in love with this month's new releases in the store too. I love some of the Christmas sentiments and I'm here to showcase my favorite Winter Butterflies:

As I Butterflies have a significant meaning for me I think this sentiment is adorable and the font is just stunning!
I stamped the words onto white card with black ink. I then used a grey ink and the Snowflake Trio stamp and inked up just one of the snowflakes which I stamped in apposing corners.
I then too a 3x3 inch piece of double sided Christmas patterned paper and folded 2 of the corners over to show the backside. This was then glued onto a 4x4inch card. I again used the Snowflake Trio stamp in both of the corners of the card not covered by the paper. I place my sentiment onto the center of the card ensuring that I didn't cover up any of the snow flakes making a simple but effective winter card - Ideal for Christmas or any winter occasion.
I made 6 of these and made a purse from the same patterned paper and placed them all inside so they would be great for a gift.

You can find the details of how to make the purse in a previous post here

Patriotic Progressive Challenge

Hope every one has a fab Holiday weekend!!! We went and watched our first 4th July firework display and I have to say it felt very strange watching fireworks on a warm evening sat in shorts instead of being bundled up in winter coats and wading through muddy fields!!!

To celebrate the holidays both here and in Canada My Whimsical Little World's progressive challenge is all about celebration and if you entered the challenge last month you wil already have your image, if not you can purchase it for 50% off for the first 2 weeks of the challenge. All you have to do to enter is place a photo of your makes using the image into the photo folder on the My Little Whimsical World's Facebook page! You have until midnight on July 31st to enter - So pop over and make sure your a member of the group and get crafting!!!

I know I'm a Brit but as I am currently fostered out to the USA I thought I would make my flag the Stars and Stripes and celebrate Independence Day

So I have colored her up in red white and blue (please don't count the stars and stripes I didn't have room to color then all :)  )  Spectrum Noir Markers and matted her onto red card. I then matted red and blue card onto my card blank and printed out papers with the Stars and Stripe on them which again were matted onto red card. As she is holding a sparkling firework I decided to add my own to the blue card using red and gold circle stickers. I felt this just took some of the bareness away.

PLEASE DON"T WORRY - NO AMERICAN FLAG WAS DEFACED IN THE MAKING OF THIS CARD
the papers used were separate sheets of stars and stripe :)

http://12monthsofchristmaslinkup.blogspot.ca/2015/06/dt-callare-you-up-for-challenge.html

Now onto this month's challenge the optional theme is Add an Ornament and the sponsor for this challenge is Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps

In order to have a chance to win the prize from our wonderful guest sponsor this month, make sure that there is a Christmas ornament featured prominently somewhere on your card.  Whether it is part of your image, part of your paper or just an embellishment, it is up to you.  If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize.
Remember, you don't need to follow the theme to link up your cards and earn a free paper each month from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles, and have your name thrown into the year end draw for some extra digital goodies.  You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of 3 digital stamps from Robyn’s Fetish Digital Stamps.

I have chosen to showcase A Bell for Christmas

This has been colored with my Spectrum Noirs and matted onto blue card. I have used one of Decosse's Dynamite Doodles papers called Stitched Greeting again matted onto blue card and a white card blank. I have then used an ivy die and poinsettia die for embellishments.
Another clean and simple card but fits in perfectly with this month's theme.

Now come and enter our challenge and our design team call!!

Seahorses don't like Christmas

Good morning it's the July release day over at So Suzy Stamps and the start of a new challenge on the So Suzy Blog!

What a challenge it is this month!!! The theme is Christmas by the sea and So Suzy has released some fab new sea creature stamps along with some great new Christmas themed ones. You can find the details of the challenge and how to enter here. Don't worry if you don't have a blog you can also enter at the So Suzy Facebook group.
I have chosen to showcase the adorable sea horse

But he's not a happy little soul - instead of being able to float around in his normal seaweed the Christmas by the sea has meant he has to tolerate all those fairy lights too! Yes he has used another So Suzy Stamp - Bah Humbug! LOL
So how did I create this little scene you ask!
I matted green card onto my white card blank. I then stamped the sea horse onto white card and masked him off. I then ran the card through my printer making the sea background. I then used the seaweed stamp and green ink to stamp all the lower foliage. I removed the mask and colored my little friend using Spectrum Noir markers before stamping my Bah Humbug sentiment.
The hanging seaweed is a die from Memory box and used a circle punch to make all the fairy lights. I then cut this to variegated lengths and added it to my card. The star fish are from a basket of shells Mollie has.
