Foxy Dreams

 Good morning! We still are having hot days - I'm so ready for fall and the cooler temps.

My post today is showing you how I designed this cute card using Maker Forte products.

The stamps are from Dream World stamp Set. I began by ink blending on a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock using Tiptree Jam, Vegas Strip, Coronation Purple and Eclipse Black inks. Yes you can't see the Vegas Strip but I used it to to blend the pink and purple to get a smooth blend.

I want to heat emboss on to this and I don't want the embossing powder sticking the whole piece. Leaving it to dry helps with this.

Next I stamped the cute fox from the stamp set using Eclipse Black Ink. This is a great ink for alcohol markers and also gives a nice black impression. My Smoosher is a great tool for stamping to help get an even image.

Using alcohol markers to color him I then fussy cut him ready for my card.

My background has dried so time to move back to it. My fox is going to be in a circle of vellum and I don't want stamping under it. I place the Circle Die on my background so I could place the moon and stars where I needed them. Using Clear Embossing Ink to stamp them. Meteor Embossing Powder is a white powder but with sparkles so works great on my night sky.

Next I needed my circle, using Nested Circle Dies I cut a circle from Premium Translucent Vellum. To give this more interest I used an embossing pen around the edge and heat embossed with Meteor Shower powder.

This vellum is sturdy enough that you can heat emboss on it. Maker's Magic is great to adhere my little fox to the middle of the circle. I also added a drop onto his nose to give it shine.

Having the fox centered gives me an area to add foam tape to so it isn't seen through the vellum. 

I adhered my background to a Top Folding A2 Card Base and finally my little fox, sitting on his vellum, was adhered in place with the foam tape.

Exciting News!! Kawaii Pencil Pals are Now Clear Stamps!!!

 Good Afternoon! The weekend is nearly here and I am so looking forward to it.

Today I am showing you some inspiration from my play with one of the Kawaii sets - meet the Pencil Pals:

I colored them with Copic markers and fussy cut them with my SNC. I also decided to cut mats for them. I used some of the coordinating stamps to make my background, when I added it to my card I realized my coloring was a little bright so added a layer of vellum to tone the colors down. My little pals were added on foam squares. I then stamped a sentiment again using some of the extra stamps to make this. this was matted and added to my card. Finally I added gold glitter to the stars on their hats and my sentiment.

Joy Clair Blog Hop Day 2

Today the design team are showcasing their favorite stamp from the collection and I love these butterflies from the Just Butterflies collection 

I wanted a clean and simple look but with a bit of a twist so I printed the butterflies twice, once on stamping card with one of the included sentiments and once just the butterflies but on a shimmer vellum.

I colored all 4 butterflies with Copic markers making sure they paired up color wise.

I matted an A2 card with coordinating cardstock and added the stamping card images to this. I then fussy cut the vellum butterflies and adhered these on top of the originals by their body only, giving me fluttering wings. Finally I added color coordinating pearls for trails from each critter.

Altenew Educators Certification Program - Easy Die Cutting Techniques

 Good evening! it's the December the 1st - how did that happen! this year appears to have dragged at times but has flown by at other times!

I'm back with another of my Altenew Educators Certification classes and this time it's all about easy die cutting techniques lead by Yana Smakula.

The first technique I have chosen to showcase is using stamps and matching dies - and I decided to follow Yana and use vellum for my image:

I started by prepping my vellum for embossing and stamped the Fresh Freesia flower in versamark ink. I then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Once set I turned the vellum over and using Mango Smoothie and Frayed Leaf inks blended ink over the flower and foliage respectively.

I then turned back over laid the coordinating die over and ran it through my die cutter.

I used 2 of the sentiments, positioned to look like one sentiment, on my white card stock, again prepped this for heat embossing, stamped them with versamark ink and embossed them with gold embossing powder.

I trimmed my card stock so it was slightly narrower than my cream A2 card base and adhered this in place. using glue finely dotted behind the lines of the stamped image I placed my flower onto the card and finished the design with a few gold toned sequins.

My next card used the negative die cutting technique, I chose to used Wings of Hope dies as this comes with a few leaf type dies.

I started by ink blending the edges of a piece of 4x5.25in cardstock with Forest Glades Ink. I then laid my dies in place, temporary sticking them with washi tape so they didn't move as I ran them through my die cutter.

Once cut I discarded the die cut pieces just keeping what would normally be the 'waste'. This was glued onto a piece of dark green mirror cardstock which was the same size. I then added this to a black A2 card base. 

Using the same green mirror cardstock I die to the Happy Die and fixed this in place with foam squares. I stamped Birthday from an Altenew set I purchased with a magazine and added this across the downward strokes of my Happy.

Finally I added a few adhesive green gems randomly around my card.

I am loving this course and could not recommend it enough, it is teaching me techniques that I would probably never have used whilst also showing me different ways to use my stash.

Pastel dancer

Good morning, it's the last weekend of the summer break and unbelievably it is raining!!!

So if you are looking for some crafty inspiration have you seen the stunning new releases from SumMore Fun that were launched on Monday? If not head over to the store, they have the gorgeous A Rose By Any Other Name which has some stunning roses as well as a good amount of sentiments that you can mix and match.

There is also the stunning dance set On Point I have used this set in my inspiration post today.

These dancers are so elegant and the scripted sentiments also included in the set is so fitting!

I stamped the dancer and the sentiment ballet onto white vellum and heat embossed with fine white powder. I then added some muted color to her using colored pencils. 

Isn't she beautiful and she has 2 other dancers in the set!

I used some pale lavender design paper and stamped some of the other images in the set on this. You can currently get the ballet slippers as a free digital stamp here.

I wrapped the vellum around the stamped paper and adhered this to a purple card base. I added white gel pen dots to the vellum to tie in with the white embossing.

Cherry Blossoms and Lilacs

Good Morning, today I am sharing my 2nd guest designer spot for Inspired by Stamping and today I am using the gorgeous Cherry Blossom Stamp set on 2 cards. I have also used papers and ribbon from the store

 

My first card focuses on the main image from the set - the gorgeous cherry blossoms

I first matted my white card base with green and white card I used design paper from the Spring Lilacs Pad wrapping lilac vellum and Crochet Tape around the lower before adhering to the card base.

I stamped the flowers onto lilac vellum using embossing ink and heat embossed with white powder.

then colored the flowers using pencil to deepen the purple coloring. I stamped 2 of the image and cut them out I fussy cut the larger flower from the second spray, shaped this and adhered it to the top of the others lifting the petals to give dimension.

I then stamped a sentiment from the Cherry Blossom stamp set on to the strip of vellum. A few tonal pearls just balanced the card

My second card was made from the same Spring Lilacs papers and Cherry Blossom Stamp set

I made my main focus the sentiment on this card

After die cutting one of the stunning Spring Lilac papers I matted cream card base with purple card and the paper - wrapping Crochet tape around the center.

I then stamped my sentiment onto the same cream card as my base and using Fancy Labels 3 die set I cut the larger shape from purple card and my sentiment with the circle die

I added a few pearl accents and a simple to make card turned into an elegant design.
