Climbing High for Dad's Birthday

Good Morning! The heatwave continues so I'm spending a lot of time in doors playing with the dogs!

My card today is another masculine card - a birthday card for dad, I have used mainly Maker Forte products for the design.

Aren't these Splat Bears adorable. I have stacked them so they look like baby is climbing on dad! What kid doesn't like to wrestle with their daddy!

I started my decorating my background, I used Bokeh Circle Stencil Set. This is 4 stencil but I just used the 2 smaller circle ones, inked one with Blue Moon Ink and the smallest with Icy Mist Ink

I stamped the bears using Eclipse Black Ink this gives a crisp color and is suitable for use with Copic markers which I used to color the bears.

I then fussy cut these cute little guys. I often leave a white border when fussy cutting but didn't with these as I am staking them and they wouldn't look right.

Sentiments are a necessity for me so I used You're Truly Fabulous stamp set for this. The Splat Bears do come with sentiments but as I was making a Birthday card for dad this set fit better. I chose the Dad (of course!) and the Happy Birthday. I was going to die cut my sentiments into speech bubbles and the happy birthday as a strip wouldn't fit so I snipped it in to 2 words. I often do this to make my stamps more useable.

As I said I die cut these into speech bubbles. Maker Forte do Simple Sayings which are preprinted sentiments that can be foiled. They make dies for these called Well Said Dies these include speech b bubbles my sentiments fit perfectly in these.

I made an A2 landscape card so used A2 Side Folding Card Base for my base. To bring out the color on my background I added a mat of Welsh Dragon Cardstock in-between my base and my stenciled card.

I added my images with foam squares, which I doubled up on my baby bear so he was raised on his dad.

Last of all I added my speech bubbles, these were also added with foam squares giving the design dimension.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my post. If it's given you inspiration please tag me in your designs!

It's Your Day

Good afternoon from a very wet Michigan. We have had a lot of rainfall over the last week but hey at least it's cooled the temperatures down!

It's Friday which means one thing - Chibis New release day over at Scrapper's Delights and there are some cuties this time round. I have used Happy Birthday, she comes both with and without the candle:

I used my graphics program to add the sentiments and image and printed on white card. The image was colored with Copic markers giving a glow from the candle. This was then matted at an angle onto pink starry design paper. I matted my 5x7 in card base with pink card and added my topper.
I adhered tiny blue pearls around the cake to give it some interest.

Happy Birthday is being released with 2 gaming images. If you purchase all 3 you can then get the VIP deal which means you get this month's zodiac collection free!

Go Wild!!

Good morning, hope you've all had a great holiday weekend
I'm going a little wild today with SumMore Fun - well I would be if the raccoons hadn't over eaten:

The cheeky chappies have raided a bin and are now in a food coma!!
I used the Raccoons stamp and colored them with alcohol markers on white card stock. I then matted a white card base with kraft card and some spotted design paper. I used the 'go wild' and 'Happy Birthday' sentiments from the Happy Camper stamp set around my image and then matted it with kraft card before placing it at an angle on my card. I added a few enamel dots just to balance the design.
Here's a closer look at the trash bandits:

Aren't they just adorable?

Tractor TLC

Good afternoon. I'm taking a break from preparing our house for guests next week. My college friend that I haven't seen for more than 10 years is coming from England for the week.
I am SOOOO EXCITED!!!!

But  lets get grounded, I need to share with you all this card I made for a colleague of my husband. The instructions were 'he likes doing up old tractors'

So I had a digital stamp of a John Deere Tractor and just needed to 'rust' it up a bit:

I used colored pencils to color it, this was my first attempt and using the pencils for a full image and realize there is a learning curve with them!

Once colored I matted the image onto black and green card.

I used a grass patterned paper on my card base along with mats of green and black like my image.

I angled the image on the card and added a die cut Happy Birthday which was 2 cuts one black one green and placed on top of one another to give a shadow.
A few black card candi finished the design.

I just hope the recipient doesn't pledge allegiance to the International!

Thanks for stopping by and if you like what you see please leave me a comment - it will make my day!

Try Something New

Good morning, we are still draped in snow and living with frigid temperatures but other than that life is good!

There is a new challenge starting over at SumMore Fun, for this one we don't have a mood board as such we are asking you to try something new so grab the Christmas crafting goodies you got and show us a new technique, new product or a new style!

Sum More Fun have a mood board challenge every 2 weeks, you can win a $20 gift certificate - If you use a Victorine Originals or Raisin Boat Products the prize doubles.

I have done a new card shape using new stamps and dies:

I have used dies to cut a diamond swing card, 3 attempts with the dies and I finally got it right! I then used my new SumMore Fun stamp set Curly Cute. There are loads of possibilities with these stamps I only used 3 from the set and there are 15 more!!!
After assembling my card I stamped Happy Birthday on to one of the diamond mats. I then surrounded this withe the cute flower. I then used the same inks and stamped the flower on and off the edge of my card mats.
These were then adhered in place. When the card is opened fully the back on the diamond also has the cute little flowers over it.

Cake and balloons - it must be a birthday

Good afternoon, I'm currently incapacitated, I have a problem with my left leg which is causing me a great deal of pain and affecting my ability to do anything.
Apart from when I color I usually craft standing up so I've had a bit of a lull where card making is concerned. I now have a high stool for my desk and a table so I can keep essentials near by so I'm trying hard to get back into the swing of things - after all I can't bring myself to buy Christmas cards.

Kev called me on Tuesday needing a birthday card for a colleague, it needed to be large enough for the whole team to sign so out came my 8x8in scalloped card bases

The image is a pre-printed one I bought from Lili of the Valley a long while ago. I matted the cute kitty onto pink card along with 2 coordinating Nit Wit Bonnets n Bowties patterned papers, one the same size as my image and one to mat my card base with. I added a colorful ribbon to the paper on the base. I then positioned my layers and adhered these in place.
I die cut Happy Birthday from the same pink card and positioned it in the corner of the card. I added some pink crystal gems from my stash just to balance the card.

A very girly card that was quick and simple to make
