Altenew Educators Program - With a Twist

Good afternoon - Wow is it hot here, we have a red flag warning - high risk of fire as we have low humidity gusty wind and high temperatures - It's also not rained in a while!

My cards today are using techniques Therese Calvird taught in the Altenew Academy Class - With a Twist.

I love all the techniques she taught but have taken inspiration from 2 for my AECP class work. The first one is acetate with a twist, I love Therese's shaker so decided to do something similar but with a flower stamp set.

The Ranunculus stamp and die set are great for this technique as it is a gorgeous large flower!

I started my card with an A2 card base and a piece of the same cardstock cut to the same size.
I lined up the die on the cardstock piece and ran this through my cutter.
Before removing the die I lined up the card piece wit my card base and traced the inner edge of the die onto the front of my card base in pencil. removing the die from the cardstock,  I then lined the die up with the pencil markings, opened the card base and ran through my cutter leaving me with an aperture in my card front.
I did the same with a piece of white fun foam to use for the spacing of my shaker.
I traced the aperture onto the inside with pencil. This gave me a template of where to stamp my first flower layer. The remaining layers were stamped giving me the stunning flower so when I closed my card it showed through the aperture.

Next I built my shaker, I glued a piece of acetate to the outside of the card front and the back of the extra card panel. The foam was glued in place on the card front, making sure that the glue adhered the foam firmly around the aperture. I placed prills onto the acetate on my card base.
I stamped the sentiment on the outer of the extra panel and then adhered this to the top of my card base, encasing the prills between the 2 pieces of acetate.

Finally I added some Nuvo drops around my sentiment.

My second card inspiration was Therese" Cut oddly class, I used a die for my card cut out section:

I started with an A2 card base and cut the right corner away with the Soda Bottle die. I repeated this on a piece of A2 green card stock.
On the inside of my card I stamped the flower and colored with alcohol markers.

I used 2 of the leaves from the same stamp set to do tone on tone stamping on my green card. This was then adhered to my card base. I stamped a sentiment with versamark ink and heat embossed this with white powder, trimmed it to size and added across my card front.
A few clear enamel dots were dotted around my flower to balance the card.

Thank you for taking time to stop by and I hope you enjoyed my post.
On to the next class!

Altenew Educators Certification Program - Let It Shine!

Good afternoon. It's been a rainy day here today so perfect time to spend time in the craft room.

I haven't done any of my Altenew Educator's Certification Program classes for a while, school and design teams have kept me busy so today I have concentrated my next class which is Let It Shine!

I have made 3 cards for this, my first uses glitter which I have to say is not one of my favorite mediums but I worked outside of my comfort zone and used loose glitter instead of glitter cardstock:

I started with a black A2 card base, I placed double sided tape in strips along the top and right hand side. I then liberally sprinkled glitter over it. I burnished this with my finger and tapped off the excess. This left the glitter on just the tape.
I then stamped Crown Bloom stamp and leaves using Altenew inks. As I don't yet have the dies for this set I used my Scan N Cut to fussy cut them and arranged on my card. I added a blossom stamp, which is part of Crown Bloom, colored yellow just to break up the red. Finally I die cut a sentiment, dipped it in wet glue and then glitter, once this was dry I arranged on my card.

My next card uses the Ranunculus stamp set and a cool technique:

I stamped the flower and leaf onto matt gold cardstock using embossing ink. I then used clear embossing powder and heat set. It give a cool engraved effect. I matted an A2 black card base with matt silver cardstock and arranged my leaf and bloom. Finally I stamped the sentiment with obsidian ink, added clear embossing powder and heat set it. A few golden pearls just balanced the desgn.

My Final card also uses embossing powder:

Using the Spring Daisy stamp set I stamped the outline of the flowers and leaves with embossing ink, added silver embossing powder and heat set it. This gave me a shiny image. I then stamped with colored ink, giving me complete flowers with shiny outlines. I fussy cut these ready for my design.
I matted a slimline card base with 2 different shades of purple card stock arranged my leaves and flowers both flat and raised with foam tape. I then die cut a sentiment from matt cardstock and added a few clear enamel dots for added shine.

Altenew Vintage Flowers

Good afternoon, Hot and humid here but nice with the air on inside!
Around 6 weeks ago I was sent an email asking if I was interested in taking part in the Altenew Educator Certification Program. Of course I was interested I LOVE Altenew stamps and their inks are amazing. I sent in my application and was accepted 😊. Then came my craft room make over so I put the classes on hold for a couple of weeks

Now I'm fully moved in I have started the first class which is All About Layering with the lovely Nicole Picadura. Of course this focuses on lessons for Altenew's layered stamps and gives some basic stamping techniques and demonstrates ways to line up the stamps.

My first card uses the Vintage Flowers stamp set, the flowers have either 3-4 layers to them and do look so realistic when stamped:

I used a few techniques making this card. lining up the flowers, masking off the central flower to stamp the others making it look even more dimensional and using accent flowers to fill in my design. The sentiment was from another Altenew set but fit perfectly in the space left for it.

What I used:
Floral Stamps: Altenew Vintage Flowers
Stamping Card: Neenah Solar white 110lb

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you like what you see and come back soon!
