With Sympathy and Peacocks

We arrived back from vacation on Saturday night and promptly had around 8 inch of snow fall. Luckily it hasn't hung around and this week we should get some higher temperatures.

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Jo's Scrap Shack and the sponsor this week is Imagine That Digital Stamps. If you enter our challenge and are a lucky winner you receive a $12 coupon for their store.

 I chose to use a the Pretty Peacocks digital stamp set which includes peacocks both with their tail displayed and gathered in, a lovely spray of flowers and some great sentiments:

My card uses the peacock with its tail closed up and I decided to make a sympathy card with it:

I used my graphics program to add the sentiment to the image, the peacock's bowed head went well with the sympathy wording. I then recolored the sentiment as it looked harsh in black against the detail of the bird. It was then printed out onto x-press it card.

Once I had colored the image with alcohol markers and colored pencils I added some sparkle to the tail to try and replicate the iridescence of the feathers.

I then matted a 5x7 inch card base with card that coordinated well with the colors I used in the image. My topper was then added along with some gems that I feel have a peacock coloring to them.
